Proactive or Reactive Cop?

If you had a choice and if you were a cop, would you choose to be a proactive or a reactive cop? Would you want to be there to make sure that nobody even thinks about doing crime; or would want to be there as the crime happens and get to deal with it appropriately?

The thing is that the proactive cop gets no action and gets praise for a crime-free society UNTIL it possibly something happens. The reactive cop gets all the a lot of action and drama and praise for fixing a deadly situation. People could die and there could be harm, but that would be the price to pay!

So? Which is which?

Loss & Failure

It's true that you gain more from loss and failure than you do from winning but I'm sure that even those "good" lessons loose their value if you learn them all them time!

Or could this same loss be counted as gain? Is loss really gain? If it is so, then is gain loss?

Dissapointing Myself

Nothing is worse than disappointing yourself. Sometimes by disappointing important people in your life, you disappoint and hurt yourself also.

I have disappointed God with something I did and that IS a big deal! If I could, I would go back and fix it, but the luxury of going back in time is not a priviledge we humans possess.

The best one can do at the end is to ask for forgiveness and focus on the future. I shall press on and have a forward look!

Forgotten Password

Is there anyone who can help me? I need to reset a windows 7 password without formatting the machine and loosing all my files.

You may ask how I forgot my password, but the truth is that this computer is not mine but my friend's. He lost in the army of something, I don't know.

I'm the one normally with solutions but this time I'm out! All I know is that I need to have a way to get out of the situation and get he password.

Anybody body to help?

To Go or Not?

Should I pursue my music career to the point where it will leave me broke before it can earn me money? I don't think it's a smart choice, especially if the primary motivator, in this case, is something else apart from the career itself.

I think I should stay right here!!!

Over-promise and Under-delivery

(Or something like that!)

Is it human nature to do that? This dude promises me something, but doesn't deliver on time! I often expect a bit too much from myself - is that also giving my own self the same treatment?

I Hate My Phone - 5230!!!

This phone can't handle my demands! It tells me it's memory is full! What nonsense is that? That is why I'm getting a proper business phone - a Blackberry Torch 9800!!!

Year-end Function

I'm going for a Year-end Function at work today and I didn't have a date till yesterday (the day before). I looked and looked and didn't find someone until I remembered an old friend whose sms's I hadn't been returning because of my busy life. I called her up, and walla, I now have a date!!!

Daily Pledge

I would like to pledge to write in this blog at least 3 times daily. I need to contribute my well-versed mind to the world wide web and make this a better world! LOL!

Idols South Africa Controversy

In the 2010 version of South African Idols, a judge (Mara Louw) said that the win was not totally fair. She basically said that it was a racial win and therefore not fair. She said white people voted for the white winner and black people couldn't vote for the black runner-up because they don't have access to the TV channel which showed the competition.

I know we like being diplomatic and friendly about these things and all, but I personally tend to agree with her not particularly for her reasons but for others as well. I cannot necessarily know if whites vote for whites and blacks vote for blacks, but it's a tendency which I would say is there - to support your own.

There were white people who say they voted for the black runner-up, L'loyd, and I have no reason not to believe them. I know for certain though that there are black people who also liked L'loyd BUT who didn't vote for him. So for me, I wouldn't say that the issue lies only with having access to the TV channel, but with access to voting as well. Of course we do have cellphones to vote with, but do we have airtime to "waste" on voting? I want to believe that most of us (blacks) have that mentality that we have money for "better" things. If you gave us a free way to vote, like through our remotes or something, then you'd see!

I mean I watched their final performances but didn't vote for L'loyd even though I though he was better. L'loyd's own wife and close friends don't have access to the TV channel, now what about 500 sms's? I say 500 sms's because some white woman claims to have sent 300 votes for the winner, Elvis, all by herself. How many more could've done that also?

So, either get
  1. a free way to vote, or
  2. a well represented panel of judges (2 blacks, 2 whites, etc.) who will do the voting themselves, or
  3. a well represented audience (25% black, 25% white, 25% coloured, 25% indian, etc.) who will do the voting, or
  4. whatever else that will work better
Someone (a white Afrikaner elderly man) once told me that he is racist simply because he wants his racial practices and values to be held up higher than others, and not because he hates other races. He seemed to think it was right and fair and still does. If that's the way to go then we will always have this type of competition. Somehow, I think that's what happened with Idols. Nobody hated L'loyd, but nobody (I don't want to name races) wanted Elvis to loose!

Has racism really disappeared?
