Port Elizabeth - A Port Elizabeth clinic has been forced to shut its doors after being targeted by copper thieves at the weekend, the Eastern Cape health department said on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo said the thieves ripped out electrical cabling and water pipes after gaining access through the roof of the Walmer 14 clinic.
Patients were being referred to another clinic in the area until the damage could be repaired.
"We condemn the act and appeal to members of the community to safeguard their facilities," he said.
